Meet your therapist

Dr. Nickesha Riggins

Born in Jamaica and raised in the United States, I bring a multicultural perspective to my work. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Doctorate in International Psychology, My clinical work is rooted in trauma-informed, body-based approaches because I believe healing involves both the mind and the body. I specialize in trauma recovery, anxiety, and the complexities of identity. My approach integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, and Internal Family Systems to support meaningful change at the level of the mind, body, and nervous system.

I enjoy working with adults who appear successful on the outside yet privately struggle with anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, burnout, ADHD, relationship challenges, or significant life transitions.

In addition to my clinical training, I am seminary-educated and a licensed minister. This background allows me to thoughtfully support clients whose faith is an important source of strength, as well as those who have experienced religious trauma, spiritual abuse, or are navigating questions of faith and identity. I believe therapy should honor each person’s values without imposing beliefs, creating space for clients to explore spirituality—or the absence of it—in whatever way feels meaningful to them.

My approach is collaborative, fun, relaxed, and compassionate. Rather than simply helping you cope with symptoms, I work alongside you to understand the patterns that keep you feeling stuck, strengthen your resilience, and help you build a life that feels more connected, balanced, and fulfilling.

Areas of Treatment

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can change the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Whether your experiences stem from childhood, a single event, or ongoing stress, healing is possible. I use evidence-based, body-centered approaches such as EMDR and somatic therapy to help your nervous system process experiences that may feel “stuck.” Together, we’ll move beyond simply managing symptoms and work toward helping you feel safe, connected, and fully present in your life again. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened—it means no longer feeling controlled by it.

Perfectionism & Burnout

Perfectionism often disguises itself as ambition, responsibility, or high standards, but it can also leave you feeling exhausted and never “good enough.” Burnout develops when your mind and body have been operating in survival mode for too long. Therapy can help you identify the beliefs and patterns keeping you stuck while learning healthier ways to pursue success. You deserve a life where accomplishment and well-being can exist together.

Anxiety & Stress

When anxiety is constant, it can feel like your mind never has a chance to rest. You may find yourself overthinking, worrying about the future, or feeling physically tense and exhausted. Therapy can help you understand what is driving your anxiety while teaching practical strategies to regulate your nervous system. Together, we’ll build tools that help you feel calmer, more grounded, and more confident in handling life’s challenges.

Diaspora Care

Living between cultures can bring both richness and unique emotional challenges. You may find yourself balancing family expectations, cultural identity, immigration experiences, racial stress, or the feeling of never fully belonging in one place. Therapy provides a culturally responsive space where every part of your identity is welcomed and understood. Together, we’ll explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion while helping you build a life that feels authentic, grounded, and true to who you are.

ADHD

ADHD affects far more than attention—it can impact emotions, relationships, work performance, and self-esteem. Many adults have spent years feeling misunderstood or believing they simply need to “try harder.” Therapy provides a space to better understand how your brain works while developing practical strategies that fit your life. Together, we’ll focus on building systems that support your strengths instead of constantly fighting against your challenges.

Life Transitions

Life transitions—even positive ones—can feel overwhelming and uncertain. Career changes, becoming a parent, divorce, grief, relocation, or entering a new stage of life can challenge your sense of identity. Therapy provides support as you navigate these changes with greater confidence and resilience. Together, we’ll help you adapt while remaining connected to the person you want to become.

A comprehensive approach to healing that honors the intersection of the mind, body, and spirit.

50 minute sessions

A 50-minute therapy session offers you a dedicated, distraction-free container to dive into personal challenges while maintaining sharp mental focus. This structured timeframe allows your nervous system to safely unpack vulnerable emotions.

Extended sessions/

Intensives

These sessions start at 90 minutes and can extend up to 6 hours in a day. By removing standard time constraints, these intensives allow clients to dive deep into complex trauma or long-standing behavioral blocks without the interruption of weekly stop-and-start pacing. This extended, continuous space gives the nervous system ample time to move past initial defenses, leading to profound emotional breakthroughs and accelerated healing in a single day. Ultimately, clients can make months' worth of therapeutic progress in just one or two sessions, making it highly efficient for those seeking rapid relief or navigating a crisis.
